Amazing artist!

Daniel Merriam’s paintings are dreams in full color. They beckon for the viewer to join a journey into the imagination, where the worlds of reality and fantasy collide in an explosion of color, shapes and symbolism. His unique style is the product of solid technical skills, an illustrator’s precision and a story teller’s sense of pace. Anyone with a sense of adventure and humor who enjoys exploring a work of art will find Daniel Merriam’s art an excursion worth taking.

Arcane Fractals

Art Date Wednesday, April 5th, 2006

Some very interesting fractals!

Fractals are graphic representations of mathematical equations. Without the aid of a computer to generate the graphics from the equations, these mathematical objects would remain invisible.

Flame fractals are particularly beautiful with their ethereal forms. They have the power to touch our spirit and fire the imagination. The stars, mist, trees and all other elements within my compositions are all pure flame fractals unless otherwise noted. They have taken many hours to develop and are best viewed at 24 or 32 bit true colour mode.

This web site is a continuing work in progress and the galleries will be added to and expanded. I have endeavoured to keep the loading time of the graphics to a minimum without sacrificing the image quality. Most of the graphics are around 100kb but still require several seconds to download so please be patient. Updates to the galleries will be listed in the “News” section of this site.

Haiku Painting and Artwork by John Polozzolo

Art Date Saturday, April 1st, 2006

Very relaxing for me…

Since the earliest paintings of the great Hakuin and Sengai… Zen artists and poets have striven to express the ineffable, the transcendental, in suggestive brushstrokes and fertile, concise phrases. Every stroke counts, each dot, every syllable and all the space around it… and even the signature speaks as an integrated element of the total work.

Alan Rabinowitz Fantasy Art

Art Date Friday, March 31st, 2006

Very nice fantasy art.

Alan started his professional career as an illustrator after graduating Rochester Institute of Technology in 1991 with a BFA in Painting and Illustration. His first job right out of school was for two covers for Marvel Comics – Conan Magazines.

He has since trained under his mentor of 6 years John F. Murray at The School of Visual Arts and the John F. Murray School of Art. He studied a traditional academic approach to Drawing and Painting that can be traced back to Jean Leon Gerome and other 19th Century French Academicians at the Ecole de Beau Arts in France. This training technique is known as the Riley Method. The Riley Method was taught to John Murray by Frank Riley at The Art Students League of New York.

art

During and after Alan’s training, he has developed a steady working relationship with many of his clients, most of which are top tier companies in their perspective industries. He has illustrated Book Covers, Calendars, Portraits, Advertising, Card Game Illustrations, Magazine Covers, Interior Illustrations and more. His work here will speak for itself as far as quality, photo-realism, and digital art go.

Chinese Calligraphy

Art Date Sunday, March 26th, 2006

Very interesting website.

Over the thousands of years, the style of Chinese calligraphy has evolved continually. About 213 B.C., under the famous Chin Shih Huang Ti, who perpetrated the ‘burning of the books’, the Prime Minister Li Szu drew up an official index of characters and unified the written form for the use of scholars. This is chuan-shu and contained more than 3,000 characters.

A Miniature Sculpture Of Rare And Other Wood

Art Date Friday, March 24th, 2006

Some very nice miniature objects…

Miniature and microscopic sculptures of wood is priority in field od art creation by Dmitry D. Emelyanov . Artist use for artwork both ordinary and very rare sorts of wood . Microscopic sculpture demand very hardwood as material and very firm and sharp tools . For possibilities creation similar extraordinary artworks Dmitry long time searched proper tools . But when could not had found it so he is obliged compelled to device and to manufacture the Micro-Tools independently ( without any assistance ) .
Dmitry work according to technology by ancient traditions – only by hand-tools and without any optical equipments . These indispensable conditions allow call Dmitry`s artwork even rarity and precious for contemporary art ! High quality of a rare and other wood and a excellent professional experience of artist allows to create unique artworks for using in the Church, the Office, and the Home . Also this artworks will be nice for Art Galleries and Museum. Uniqueness of every work is guaranteed !
But even most hardwood ( with hardness as bone or as copper ) require many intent and serious treatments for work . careful and laborious task for several months can be destroy only from ones clumsy movement of chisel .
Miniature and microscopic sculpture of wood require mobilize all the reserves of physical strength and intellectual faculties . After three – four hours of such constructive work cramp in the hands from weariness and effort , backbone and legs grow numb from motionless , eyes can see only big and brightly lit things … All it can be give start to serious falling many illness . But it is very awfully interesting work – creation miniature and microscopic sculptures of wood ! Satisfaction from produce artworks give to Dmitry much more that only pain .
Unfortunately artist could not had been occupied by miniatures in last several months . Therefore at this exhibition You can look only imagery that created some years earlier ( though here presented not all Dmitry`s artworks of wood ) . But probably artist still will have possibilities for will make similar unique art in future . And You will can look it here !

Fractalism

Art Date Sunday, March 19th, 2006

A few interesting fractals…

At first using digital technology to correct and enhance photographs, Jay added graphic design, video production, and product development to his repertoire of technical skills. In time, as the capabilities of computer workstations grew, he became ever more attracted by the computer’s potential for creating entire virtual worlds.

Frustrated by the limitations of commercially available software, Jay has developed unique image-creation techniques combining traditional media, fractal geometry, and special effects wizardry. The result is an art form that he has named Fractalism™.

art

Drawn into the immense detail of the image, each viewer perceives a scene of improbable objects, alien landscapes, and fanciful creatures, depending on the individual’s own experiences and perspective. While the lifelike textures and visual depth might suggest a cleverly composed photograph, closer examination of the image often reveals logical paradoxes that could not possibly exist in the real world.

Kamiel Proost Art

Art Date Friday, March 17th, 2006

I love some of his paitings…1 Dollar Art Gills are really funny!

Kamiel lives and works in his cave-like studio surrounded by Dinosaurs, Statues and Paintings of fellow artists

Hosted by Amsterdam’s largest artist-community “Nieuw&Meer”; over 80 selfmade studios in first squated/now legalized army storage buildings, facing a big lake at the edge of the city.

art

He can be seen at the city’s poetry stage in Winston Kingdom, or with the Amsterdam Balloon Company performances in the Temple of Rock; Paradiso. ‘But mostly I live Like a Hermit.’

‘Really I don’t go out there much..’ He says pointing at the world outside his window. ‘From here I can see the swans in the canal, and by night the moonlight hits the water and these cool reflections start dancing on the ceiling….that’s when I paint ..in the quiet…when everybody is silent I start singing …. softly, though…’ With a chaotic group of childish and ambitious painters like George Heidweiller, DADARA and Willem, they form the spil of Amsterdam’s underground visual artists…

Fantastic Fractals!

I get a lot of requests for information on how to get started fractaling. In case you don’t already know, fractals are NOT painted in a paint program. They are generated by the computer through the solving and resolving of mathematical formulas. The solutions to the algorithms determine the colors and the pattern. Many of the available fractal generators on the web give you almost complete control of the image you are creating, so you can develop your own artistic flair. There are thousand of formulas, depending on which program you are using, and the possibilities are endless! Those who enjoy creating fractals soon find they are almost addicted to watching the patterns unfold!
